churro donuts.

is there anything better than a crispy churro?!
really. how often do you get to indulge in one of those babies?!
not often enough. if you ask me.

and is there anything more delicious than a fresh baked donut?!
i could literally eat one {or two. or three} every. single. day.
and if i am being honest . . .
i did eat one every single day while i was preggo.
they are just oh. so. good.

so what could possibly be better than a churro donut?!

today i set out to make my version of churro donuts.
and i have to admit. i had great success.
quite possibly too much success.
as i see these sugar babies being made with great regularity.

how sweet do those look?!
perfectly doughy. perfectly sugary. perfectly cinnamony.

d.e.l.i.c.i.o.u.s donuts.
& the best part is . . . they are a breeze to make.

all you need is:
one can of ready to bake biscuits
{any brand will do. but do not get the flaky ones}
1 and 1/4 cup of canola oil
4 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup sugar
4 tablespoons cinnamon

pour the oil into a frying pan & set over medium heat.
while the oil is heating up . . .
cut a hole in the center of each raw biscuit.
{i used a small. round. biscuit cutter}
mix the sugar & cinnamon in a bowl.
melt the butter in a separate bowl large enough to hold one biscuit.

place the biscuits in the hot oil. it should start to bubble & sizzle.
fry on each side for about 1.5 minutes. or until golden brown.
{now that the biscuits are fried they have become donuts}
using tongs. take the donuts out of the oil & dip into the melted butter.
place the buttered side of the donut down into the sugar & cinnamon mixture.
stir the donut around a bit to make sure it is covered in the sugar.
set on a cooling rack & try not to eat them all right away.

voila!
the perfect churro donut.
you will be blown away with these little treats.
they are doughy inside like a donut. with a crispy outside like a churro.
really. its the best of both worlds.
yum. yum. yum.
