bumpity-bump.

i should apologize in advance for all the baby posts lately.
what can i say... i've got baby on the brain.

we spent memorial day weekend out at our beach house.
naturally. we snapped a few bump pics.

warning: big bumps ahead.

can hardly wait to get patrick's little baby footies in the sand.
hurry. hurry. hurry sweet little baby boy.

a most lovely shower.

hosting showers. celebrating those that i love. & entertaining
happen to be some of my all time fave things to do.
there is just such an incredible abundance of joy that comes from
creating a beautiful tablescape. cooking divine dishes. & loving on others.

the most recent bridal shower that my mom & i hosted
may or may not be our most beautiful one to date.
it was simple. it was elegant. it was lovely in the most natural of ways.

lots of ladies are intimidated to host a shower.
but i am here to show you just how easily it can be down.
follow these few tips & you will surely be a fabulous hostess.

first. things. first.
whenever we host a party or shower. we always begin by coming up with our theme.
to us, theme basically incorporates color schemes. and the feel of the event.
do we want it to be punchy & fun? timeless & classy? glam & sparkly?

this time around we went with
natural. organic. simplistic. elegance.
drift wood. cascading ivy. milk glass. silver.
with hues of creams. burlaps. & greens.

great. big. oversized. bows made of burlap & tulle
were draped from the corners of our table.

and cream roses overflowed from silver pitchers.

collected pieces of milkglass sat upon wooden platters.
this combination of rustic wood & ruffled glass was just perfection.

a petrified coffee tree. which is a design staple in my parents house.
is dripping with tissue paper pom-poms & tulle bows.
this was the perfect little spot for the bride-to-be to sit.

isn't the textural combination just fantastic?

interspersed crystal pieces helped dress up the natural table.

and an abundance of cream flowers filled in any & every empty space.

mixing silver & milkglass is just beautiful.
tip: use mint leaves or basil leaves as greenery.
not only does it look lovely. but it smells divine. too.

second. task. at. hand.
after we have decided on our theme. we move on to our menu.
we are big believers in making fantastic savory dishes & sweet treats from scratch.
it just adds to the love that is put into celebrating the honoree.
coming up with a menu in advance takes all the stress & worry out of hosting a party.
we always make certain that we use five star recipes
that are as beautiful as they are delicious.
{always hold on to an amazing recipe when you find one. they are so valuable}

diagonally sliced baguettes were filled with veggies & dip.
how stinkin cute are these?

dipping strawberries in chocolate is always an easy crowd pleaser.
again. use mint leaves to create more greenery.

flourless chocolate torte is just as decadent as it sounds.
{and i have to be honest... we did not make this... although i wish i had the recipe}
placing crystal bowls of whipped cream & raspberries adds great color to the table.

this is hands. down. the most amazing flourless chocolate torte.
{will be blogging about this little gem in a few days. stay tuned}

a tried & true cookie is always a great shower treat.

cheese & crackers garnished with rosemary makes for a simple snack.

but the star of our shower menu this time...
goat cheese. fig. & basil bruschetta.
the combination of sweet & savory is out of this world.

the. finishing. touches.
lastly. when designing our tablescape. we think of all the details.
it is the details that make everything come together so beautifully.
the little touches that just make such a big difference in the display.

details like varying sized floral arrangements.

and water bottles wrapped in ribbon & tulle.

little touches like cream colored candies & crystal wine glasses.

and engagement ring napkin holders.

and lastly. a sweet little note for the guests to fill out for the bride-to-be.
sweet thoughts & well wishes before our dear friend becomes a mrs.

there you have it.
a few simple steps to plan a most lovely shower.
it really is quite fun & the creative possibilities are endless.

tell me. do you enjoy hosting showers as much as we do?

baby bump.

baby patrick will be here in two weeks or less.
and we can hardly contain our excitement.
every thought. every emotion. & every day is completely consumed with baby love.
keeping our fingers crossed that sweet baby patrick will arrive soon. soon. soon.
i am not sure i can handle waiting 14 more days.
{patience has never been a strength of mine}

that being said.
i am totally enjoying these last days of rubbing my baby bump.
feeling his baby kicks. & imagining his precious little face.

oh. baby.
what a joyful time.
