camel + black.

is there anything more classic than
camel + black?

it is just so perfectly timeless.
it is just so simply elegant.
i could literally wear some mix of camel + black daily.

building an entire fall wardrobe around this basic color palette
makes for super easy & effortless outfit selections everyday.
just add in some winter whites. creams. ivories. & leopard print.
and you have yourself a collection of intermixable pieces.

here are a few of my fave camel + black ensembles.

so simple. & irresistibly chic.

this oversized camel scarf is divine.

completely darling. camel on camel works.

this screams fifth ave to me.
those shoes. those skinnies. that cape. that fur. that bag.

a classic trench is a staple for every fall wardrobe.
& don't you love that punch of glitter from her clutch?!

everyday. livable. style.
love the slouchy sweater over the crisp button down.
this is perfection.

i can easily get caught up in the latest fall trends . . .
you know. the it color of the season.
that color that hangs on every rack. in every store.
whether it is mustard. wine. olive. or burnt pumpkin.
i fall for it {no pun intended}.
& i will start to fill my closet with those trends.
but it never feels completely right for me.

i always. & i mean always. go back to my basics.
the classics. the timeless.
the camels + blacks.

this beauty is my top choice for this season.
mine should arrive any day now.
not only is it so lady like & so classic . . .
it is a steal at only 100 dollars at nordys.

i am also loving the latest banana republic jacket.
this could so easily be dressed down for a fall day.
or dressed up for a fall night on the town.

how do you wear your camel + black?

the blanket scarf.

i have always been a scarf-lovin girl.
& blanket scarves are the perfect accessory for this fall.

they complete an outfit. totally pulling it together.
they have the ability to take jeans & a tee to a completely new level.
they can also soften the look of a fitted blazer.
they are so versatile.

i am lusting over the plaid blanket scarves this season.
they are impossibly classic with a mix of trend.

here are a few of my favorite ways to style these great big. cozy. scarves.

i'm dying over the colors in this fabulous scarf.
so rich & buttery.

perfectly polished.
the wine hues. the heels. the fitted blazer.
this look is killer good.

we all know i am a sucker for monochromatic black.
this is so chic. amazing street style.

weekend casual. mom style. love this.

loving the mixed patterns here.

& again here.
so cute. so whimsy. so playful.

another simple monochromatic look
is offset by the plaid scarf.
simple style.

& i adore the layered look.
it is just so perfectly fall.

can you hardly stand it?
are you running out to get one for yourself today?!
i know i am! maybe two or three.

i stumbled upon this darling etsy shop
& she has a beautiful selection of plaid scarves.
not to mention. she has amazing prices.

also. zara has a great selection of amazing blanket scarves. too.
it's so hard to pick just one.

cozy up. ladies!

loft lust.

don't you just love fall fashion?
it is my all-time fave.
i am especially digging the ann taylor loft collection this season.
it is so cozy. comfy. & livable chic.

being a mom of two messy boys . . .
i simply can't justify spending a fortune on my clothes.
by the end of the day my outfits are always sprinkled with dirty finger prints & spit up.
my pants have peanut butter smears on the knees. & my shirts are stretched from little tugs.

don't get me wrong.
i wouldn't choose the loveliest oscar de la rent blouse in exchange for
my loved on. spit up on. syrup scented. tear stained tee shirts.
i love my mom uniform.
but i certainly have had to revamp my shopping habits.

ann taylor loft has become my go-to.
i can always walk into loft and find darling outfits that are easy to throw together.
and they are easy on the wallet. which eases the stress of getting mom-messy.
they are durable enough for tickle monster matches with toddlers.
they are comfy enough for snuggling up with a newborn.
& they are flattering on a new mom bod.
whats not to love?!

here are a few of my favorite looks from this seasons collection.

completely darling.
love the layered turtleneck.

so chic. yet still so relaxed.

can i wear this every. single. day. please?

love the mix of distress & polish.
street chic for certain.

again. this could be my everyday uniform.

completely adorable.
love the flirty swing of this day dress.

& who doesn't love a great poncho?!

so . . .  i have a treat for you!

september theme: apples.

patrick is at such a fun stage.
he is so incredibly curious. inquisitive. & full of wonder.
he wants to know about everything & anything.

i hope he always stays this way.

i have chosen to keep patrick home from preschool until he is three.
i just can't imagine sending my baby to school quite yet.
like peter pan. i hope he never grows up.

so to keep him excited about learning & to avoid boredom
i am creating an at-home-faith-based curriculum for us to do together.
it is nothing serious. i am not pushing for him to be reading and writing at age two.
it is more for toddler appropriate fun & faith exposure.
playtime. storytime. conversations. prayer. & crafts.

the theme for september was apples.

we practiced fine motor skills by glueing red button apples onto apple trees.
we used halved apples to make apple print stamps with paint.
we painted apples out of watercolors.
we baked mini apple turnovers.
we ate bags & bags of sliced apples.
we had such fun with all things apple.

my favorite element of this months theme was the way we incorporated faith.
what better way to bring the b.i.b.l.e. into playtime than through
apples & the story of creation.

it was just too easy.

patrick loved hearing the story of adam. eve. and sin the snake.
{he couldn't say the word satan so it came out as sin the snake}

i found these darling free printables on pinterest.
how stinkin cute are they?!
i printed them. cut them. laminated them. & glued magnets on the back.
it was so much fun to watch patrick's imagination soar using these characters.
i also loved the little story sequence cards.
this was a great way to share the story of adam & eve.

i am grateful for the conversations that were sparked through this months theme.
conversations about god & sin. apple trees & buttons.
the simplest way to ensure that conversations of faith are happening everyday.

how do you incorporate faith at home with your children?

pumpkin snack bars.

if you are anything like me
pumpkin season makes your soul smile.
the scent. the taste. everything about pumpkins is just glorious.

to kick off the season.
patrick & i threw together some pumpkin snack bars.
they were outstandingly tasty & fun for a toddler to get his hands into.

i love finding recipes that patrick & i can make together.
having a toddler in the kitchen is just so much fun.

and while it can get messy.

and sometimes {read: all the time} recipe directions are not followed.

and dirty little fingers touch all the ingredients.

and one pinch of sugar, mama?
turns into ten handfuls of sugar.

and then ten double fistfuls of sugar. on top of that.

even with all that.
the wonder. the exploration. the intrigue.
of a toddler in the kitchen is just the best.

so even though the recipe was short 1/8 of a cup of brown sugar.

we still carried on.

ok. thats enough little mister.
{it was just before dinner time}

thats enough. patrick. that is enough.
{mentioned dinner was spoiled.}

our measurements were not totally accurate.
but thats ok with toddler friendly recipes.

because what was lacking in ingredients
was made up for with an extra dose of childish love.

so you are probably wondering about these bars . . .

all you need is
3 cups of trader joe's pumpkin o's cereal.
1/2 cup of nestle tollhouse pumpkin spice chips.
1/2 cup of raisins.
1/4 cup of honey.
1/2 stick of butter.
1/4 cup of packed brown sugar.
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon.

combine the butter. honey. & brown sugar. in a microwave safe bowl.
melt in one minute increments. for three minutes total. stirring in between.

add the vanilla to the bowl & whisk together.
it will be a bubbly & extremely hot caramel.

pour in the three cups of pumpkin o's & stir until they are covered with the caramel.
add in the raisins. the cinnamon. & half of the pumpkin chips.
stir well.

line an 8 x 8 pan with tin foil. then grease the foil to ensure the bars don't stick.
pour the mixture into the lined pan & pat down with a spatula.
sprinkle the rest of the pumpkin chips on top.

the next step is the really hard part . . .
put the dish in the fridge for 2-3 hours to cool & harden.

isn't that just torture?!
worth the wait. i promise.

because after they set. you have some delicious pumpkin snack bars to munch on.
let me tell you. they really are a yummy fall treat.
and totally tot approved.

enjoy!

the perfect treat bag.

looking for the perfect little halloween treat bag?
the hunt is over. my friends.
this darling personalized halloween bag is the jam.
and is certainly a must-have for every tot this season.

i fell in love with sarah + abraham the second i learned of them.
the adorable little online boutique is seriously too cute for words.

what started as a love affair with their customized & personalized lunch boxes
quickly grew into a need for every item in their shop.
the cups. the bowls. the placemats. the labels. & it goes without saying . . .
the precious little tote bags.

my little monkey of a tot has been carrying his friendly ghost tote around all month.
we use it for spend the night outs. bible study diaper bags. & really anything else.
{breaking it in for the big october thirty-one}

the size is perfect. the quality is supreme.
this tote really is a bag-loving-mamas-dream.

i adored the friendly ghost style . . .
but sarah also offers several other halloween inspired prints.
from bats. to pumpkins. to owls. to cats.

oh. and they are all totally friendly halloween styles.
this mama happens to strongly dislike anything frightening.

the best part is . . . patrick loves the little ghostie too.
totally kiddo approved.

so run. run. run. & order your sarah + abraham personalized tote today!
you will get it just in time to gather all your candy on the 31st.

and while you are at it . . .
check out those lunch boxes.
