when life gives you lemons.

. . . jet off to capri & drink lemoncello.

my lips are puckering just looking at all these lemony prints a la kate spade.
how fresh. and breezy. and just wonderful is this collection?!

i would love to be bold enough to wear a scarf around my head.
a pretty little nod to jackie o.

the sweetest canopy striped top.
adorable.

oh. my. goodness.
if this were to be mine . . .
i would find an excuse to wear it everyday.

ladylike to the tenth power.

of all the outfits. this has my name all over it.
the shoes. the pants. the top. the sunnies.
come to mama.

sweetly chic.
just love it all.

will you don lovely lemons this spring?
or will you just stick to drinking your lemonade?

kate spade. spring 2014.

it should come as no surprise to me. or to anyone else
that i am absolutely. positively. dying over the newest kate spade collection.
oh. my. heavens. it is just so impossibly perfect.
hello. kate spade new york. spring 2014.

it was tough to narrow down my top three picks.
all of the ensembles were so elegant. so chic. & so modern day jackie.
while much of the collection was party attire . . .
i was especially drawn to the sophisticated lunch attire.

i could see myself strolling down beach drive for an early spring lunch in these get ups.

how sensational is that coat?!
the subtle metallic is just gorgeous.

this windowpane ensemble is just my style.
i love everything about this entire look.
{maybe change out that top knot bun for a little pixie cut}

i love the simple elegance of this gray & white look.
this is. hands down. the epitome of class.
gray & white has been sprinkling my closet this spring . . .
and i am happy to see that that will be on trend for this season.

tres chic. kate spade.

happy fall, friends.

fall might be my fave time of year.
it is just such a time of bounty. beauty. & blessings.

kate spade. fall 2013.

oh my. oh my. oh my.
kate spade nailed it with her new fall collection.
every piece is the perfect mix of sass & elegance.
channeling fashion icon brigitte bardot in every glam way.

i personally have alway had a love affair with leopard print.
it is just so fantastic for so many reasons.
so. it goes without saying . . .
i will need to find a home in my closet for all of these pieces.

la. la. la. loving splashes of leopard print for my fall wardrobe.
meow. meow.

pink + red

loving a punchy pink & red mix these days.
its just so impossibly sweet.
the perfect color palette for this week of love.

whether its color blocking your garb.
nibbling on a sweet treat.
or smelling the poppiest flowers.
pink + red is just so very lovely.

doesn't it just make your heart swell with happiness?!
love. love. love. this color combination.
are you bold enough to don it?!

kate spade fall 2012.

as if i needed any more reasons to love kate spade.
the girl has done it again.
& this time she is totally spot on.

well, hello little polka dotties.
with red. black. & tan? yes, please!
in the words of brad goreski:
think paris. think flirty. think cocktail party.

luxe to the max.
i am coveting this gorgeous tan & black ostrich handbag.
it is perfectly structured in the most ladylike of manners.
she is terribly chic, wouldn't you say?!

outfit obsession with polka dot overload.
i am just dying over the layer-upon-layer of polka dotted pretties.
the shoes. the tights. the pants. the blouse.
this is proof that black & white polka dots can never be overdone.

these tights are impossibly flirty. & have me begging to do the cha cha.
i mean. really. can kate be any wittier with her designs?
these little babies paired with an oversized polka dotted skirt is spot on.
not to mention these tan pumps are adorned with the loveliest of all bows.

love. love. love.
red & black & chic all over.
bursting at the seams with femininity.

and. well. this is just to impress my lovie.
i am quite certain that he would marry me all over again
if i were to don this dictionary clutch.
he has the greatest penchant for diction
and i fancy that about him.
i am not sure how i landed such a
dashingly handsome beau with brains to boot.
swoon.

aren't these designs just the most darling?
i love how they are the perfect mix of demure & flirt.
brilliant, kate. just brilliant.

you know what else i love about this?
the kate spade models were lifted to great displays on black & white pedestals
that were totally inspired by the cour d'honneur at the palais royal.
a parisian palace built in 1629. that now coexists with this 20th century installation.

so terrificly chic in the most neo-traditional style.

tell me.
which piece from the kate spade fall collection are you coveting?
or are you like me... and refuse to pick just one?!

ashley brooke designs.

every girlie girl loves a great papery.
and yours truly is surely no exception.

in recent days.
we have shared a deep penchant for chic stationery
we have swooned over exquisite thank you notes.
& we have lusted over the most lovely of all invitations..
it is so perfectly clear to see that
i. adore. paper. goods.

most simply put. it just boils down to the glorious truth that...
every c'est si bon girl loves spending free moments jotting hand written notes.
relishing in the pure joy that comes from beautiful penmanship on beautiful paper.
savoring the moment of sealing the envelope. picking a stamp. & dropping it in the mail.
knowing that in a few short days. someone will be overjoyed to find that
they have a personalized letter waiting just for them.
to friend. with love.

so i have just the best news. hear me now. sweet friends.
i have found the most darling of all personalized stationery designers.

the lovely. adorable. and terrificly talented.
little miss ashley brooke. of ashley brooke designs.

oh. and did i mention she is so stinkin beautiful. too?!

you see.
i stumbled upon ashley's designs months ago.
& it was love at first sight.
her simplistic & sweet style instantly stole my heart.
every since then i have been terribly coveting a set of her darling customized cards.

following her blog had me smitten with her designs.
but following her facebook left me admiring her sweet disposition.

a woman who loves the Lord. & spends time in His words.
a woman who is a loving wife. & a sweet mama to her pups.
a woman who knows how to live life with the utmost grace & kindness.
i knew we just had to be friends.

so. i emailed her with my most unnecessary necessity of wanting to be pals.
and i would like to think we are now blogger friends forever.

ashley was so generous to take a moment & allow me to interview her.
and so here i am tonight. to share with you. the girl behind
ashley brooke designs.

i am married (almost 3 years!) to the most adorable man.
he is most definitely my better half.
plus… his name is pretty awesome, it’s Manolo… like the shoe!?
so how could a girl resist?!
plus we have two adorable little pups that complete our family, sam and lucy!

if I am being completely honest
ashley brooke designs came about through a series of unfortunate events.
when i graduated i had a fantastic job at a fancy interior design firm.
my dream job.
as we all know, the economy and market took a turn for the worst,
meaning the last hired (me) was laid off.
for weeks i literally knocked on interior design firm doors.
all dressed up handing out my resume left and right.
no one was hiring, everyone was in pure panic mode.

so i did what any newly college graduate does with out a job,
i moved home!

luckily for me, my parents have a beautiful photography studio
where they desperately needed a re-touch artist (or so they said!).
i, of course, took the job!
my dad taught me a little bit every day about photoshop,
since they hired a retouch artist who had never used photoshop before,
he had a big task a head of him.
photoshop and I clicked, there was something about it that I just loved,
and I became quite a good little retouch artist. but, we all knew, including me that this was just until I figured things out.

my parents encouraged me to experiment with my art,
using photoshop and their large printers. my dad constantly said
“just play around, see what happens”
so that’s what i did.

and of course my birthday rolled around and i needed some stationery to write thank you notes. i sketched out a few fun illustrations, scanned them in to my work computer, my dad showed me how to crop everything and print!
voila! homemade stationery.

from that day on, i had a new vision, a new passion, and definitely, a new obsession.

the success of ashley brooke designs is certainly a collaboration of
a lot of hard work, a great support team, many long nights,
and a few wonderful bloggers who took a chance on me.
i will forever be grateful to erin from blue-eyed bride and
nina from according to nina for giving me my first big chance to shine!

since then things have just taken off.
i get my inspiration from fashion, typography, layout design, textiles…..
the list could go on and on!!

and if i could collaborate with one designer,
it would most surely be
kate spade!

my faith means everything to me. just everything.
right now my fave scripture is 1 John 4:18.
"there is no fear in love. but perfect love drives out fear."
but it’s subject to change ;)
i have been loving the devotionals on my Bible App lately!
at the moment I am doing the Promises for Your Everyday Life.
i really try to live out my faith in my everyday business life.
and i try to do this by the way i treat people.

finally, i have so many dreams and goals.
the business has come leaps and bounds from the first year,
and the funny thing is that it’s not at all what I thought it was going to look like.

well. sweet. sweet ashley.
i think it your darling little brand has turned out to be such a hit.
& isn't it always amazing when things turn out so much grander than we
ever could have imagined them to be?!
the Lord's providence far surpasses even our greatest hopes & dreams.

so. my friends.
if you are ever looking for some sweet paper goods.
or are wishing to treat yourself to some customized cards.
be sure to swing by ashley brooke designs to see her pretties.
here are a few of my all-time fave picks.

i think i need this little pretty.
a customized change of address card is surely a necessity.

how impossibly sweet are these baby shower invites?
i just adore that polka-dottie dress.

lovely from the desk of notecards.
perfect for a friendly note to say well, hello.

tell me friends.
which ashley brooke design is your fave?!
take a sneak peak & let me know.
{i am certain they will inspire you to jot a few handwritten notes}

a timeless style.

i am feeling so overly flattered.
in recent weeks. several ladies have been asking me. emailing me. messaging me.
about my personal sense of style.
how do i define my style? where do i shop? what are my key pieces?
so i thought i would share some tips on here.

i don't consider myself a style maven by any means.
fashion is simply something i fancy.
and there have been plenty of seasons where i wish i had a
completely different style than what comes most natural to me.

i tend to be dressier more often than not.
glammed up to boot. & a bit sophisticated at times.
nine times out of ten. i wear the same clothes my mother would wear.
hear this now. she has phenomenal style. all i mean is that i dress older than i am.
i have spent many days wishing i was more
bombshell & less classic.
sexier & less refined.
more of a trendy dresser & less of a classical dresser.

nevertheless. my style is what works for me.
and i am so tickled that you readers love my style. too.

if i had to define my style in three words: classic. timeless. polished.
i always strive to be styled with elegance.
in a graceful manner that is both feminine & sophisticated.
i buy classic silhouettes. & timeless colors.
i tend to primarily wear solid colors. & colors that i know will last forever.
black is a big time staple in my closet. it may or may not be my fave color to wear.
summer. spring. fall. winter.
black is my basic.

when shopping for a season. i pick my color scheme & stick with it.
for example. this summer my colors were black. white. & khaki.
every piece of clothing i bought fell into this color scheme.
making it so easy to always pull together a great looking outfit.
i then let my handbags. my jewels. & my sunnies be the statements.

i have finally decided that this fall my color scheme will be black. red. & tan.
these colors all look great together. separate. one without the other. etc.
this will make it so simple to create great outfits by mixing all of my black. red. & tan.
buying skinnies & tops in all of these colors will create the base of my wardrobe.
& then the fun part begins...
finding the handbags. scarves. shoes. jewelries that will complete the look.

some of my fave must-have accessories are from the one-and-only kate spade.

like her large swiss dot tights.
and instant outfit upgrade.
transforms a simple black pencil skirt & blouse to a darling outfit.

and this impossibly adorable bow belt.
takes black skinnies & a tan button down to a whole new level.

a monochromatic outfit gets a punch of style
with the modern art inspired scarf.

and how terrificly great are these tan & black dotties?
any simply outfit with be overflowing with style when paired with these.

another show stopper shoe.
a pop of style & edge to amp up a basic look.

thankfully black. red. & tan. accessories are sprinkled all over the stores these days.
so finding my perfect little pieces will be quite fun & very simple.

and i encourage you to do the same thing.
rather than spending all your pretty pennies on a super trendy top.
or a wear-only-one-time dress. or super memorable pants.
start with a simple & interchangeable basic wardrobe...
then let your accessories do the talking.

and remember. buying timeless pieces with classic silhouettes will ensure that
you look polished & styled with every passing season.

tell me. what is your style?
are you a classic girl? or are you an edgy trendsetter girl?
