nyc bound.

alright my little lovelies.
i need some guidance from all of you.

mom. dad. & i booked a last minute trip up to new york city.
we leave next saturday. & will be there for three short days.
i can hardly stand my excitement.
as i have been longing to visit that little island.
{manhattan will always have a little piece of this gals heart}

while in the city. we have nothing on the agenda except
shopping. park strolling. museum hopping.
a little more shopping. eating great food. & some more shopping.
a. perfect. fall. weekend. in. the. crisp. nyc. air.

so.
i want to hear your all-time fave places to eat in the city.
after living in nyc for two years. i certainly have my faves.
but i want to hear about yours.

fancy. casual. modern. hole in the wall. ethnic. finger foods. seven course meals.
any kind of food will do.
as long as it is well worth the trip.

do tell.
if you had one day in the city.
where would you stop for breakfast? lunch? dinner?
xoxo

  3. Kristen,

You have to take your AMAZING parents to Levain Bakery!!!! The chocolate chip cookies are UNREAL!!!!!!! They are two marathon runner friends who opened this bakery years ago and EVERY time I have gone, one of them is in the bakery working her little buns off!! They were on THROWDOWN with Bobby Flay and WON!!!!!! Have a delightful memory making time.

  4. SO very jealous! New York in the fall, there is nothing better. You must share your outfits!

I've got three rec's for you:
    1. Last time I was in town friends took me to Flex Mussels (154 W 13th St) - mussels done various ways (recommend bruschetta style, plus the calamari appetizer - done perfectly), and you need to get the flex donuts for dessert, most definitely in my top 10 desserts I've ever had.
    2. I'm a big fan of Beauty & Essex (146 Essex Street) - pawn shop "front" with a very dark city vibe inside, plenty of delicious easy to share small plates and Mandarin Hide style cocktails. My faves: tune poke wonton tacos and a lobster app that I no longer see on the menu unfortunately. Also, you MUST use the ladies room and see the lavish champagne bar that awaits you.
    3. Last but certainly not least: Alta (64 West 10th Street). The best tapas I've ever tasted. Located in a restored brownstone so the interior has SUCH charm, but the food is absolutely amazing. Highly recommended: bacon wrapped dates and olives, fried goat cheese, crispy brussel sprouts (the best I've ever tasted) and the skirt steak. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the menu options.

Hope this helps! Have the best time. XOX

  10. I lived in NYC for 2 years and just moved back to Tampa so I have some recommendations...You absolutely MUST go to Empanada Mama. Favorite restaurant in the entire city...hole in the wall with life changing food. Order a Hawaiian empanada and try the green salsa.

Pop into Laduree for the most luxurious French macaroons (the guy who opened this shop-also one in Paris- is the original creator of the French macaroon).

Ride the tram from the east side to Roosevelt Island. One of the city's hidden secrets, some of the most beautiful views of the city from the sky and only costs the same as a subway ride.

Check out my blog for the rest of my NYC picks! Enjoy!
